The Darkest Eyes!

Unreal! Sleater-Kinney! The All-Mighty Queens of Rock! Have Broken Up! Tragic! I cannot believe this. I am shocked! They play Webster Hall on August 2nd! What a sad day! SK Are Fucking Metal! They will be missed!

*
After eleven years as a band, Sleater-Kinney have decided to go on indefinite hiatus.

The upcoming summer shows will be our last. As of now, there are no plans for future tours or recordings. We feel lucky to have had the support of many wonderful people over the years. We want to thank everyone who has worked with us, written kind words about us, performed with us, and inspired us.

But mostly we want to extend our gratitude to our amazing fans. You have been a part of our story from the beginning. We could not have made our music without your enthusiasm, passion, and loyalty. It is you who have made the entire journey worthwhile.

With love and thanks,

Sleater-Kinney

Hurricanes are not Whalers!

I don't know if anyone is even reading this or if any ever will, but I have to get something off my chest. Tonight, the Carolina Hurricanes won the NHL's Stanley Cup! Why do I care? Because this team used to be the Hartford Whalers! The only professional sports team Connecticut ever had (WNBA?). They were rudely taken away from us and Hartford has never recovered. Let it be known, the Carolina Hurricanes are not the Hartford Whalers and never will be! I hope you all drink poison from Lord Stanley's Cup. GO WHALE!!!!!

Depeche Mode Tour?!

All I know is that in Dusseldorf, Germany on June 16th , Depeche Mode is having a press conference. They have been in the studio for a few months and the new album should be coming soon. The rumor is that they will be announcing a tour for possibly 2006, if not the end of this year! I don't care what year they tour, as long as I can see them I will freak the eff out!

05.05.05!

Let me say that my 24th birthday was absolutely amazing. Day two was the highpoint of the two day best fest. I got phone calls from a bunch of friends wishing me a Happy Birthday. I love my friends and family. Holla! The plan for the night was to see New Order. I saw New Order and I was blown away.

My homegirl Dee bought me tickets for my birthday and we left for the show around 8:30. I was nervous that we'd miss some of it, but I stayed positive. We got to Hammerstein around 9 and walked in and caught the end of 'Love Vigilantes,' which was the first song. I was so pumped that we didn't miss anything. This show was beyond amazing. I won't even front, hearing those Joy Division songs was so surreal. I've been reading the mixed reviews of New Order playing Joy Division, all I can say was that they were amazing and the crowd ate it up. I was shocked at how great the crowd was. Everyone was dancing and yelling all the words. Dee came to the conclusion that all great crowds consist of gay men. Every song they played was great. I was not expecting 'She's Lost Control,' holy shit! When they started playing it I almost threw up. Temptaion was brilliant as well. So crazy. This review sucks. I'm still in awe. Cinco De Mayo! Here's the setlist and a shot:

Love Vigilantes/Crystal/Regret/Hey Now What You Doing/Krafty/Transmission/True Faith/Run Wild/Jetstream (with Ana Matronic)/Waiting for the Sirens' Call/Bizarre Love Triangle/Love Will Tear Us Apart/Temptation//encore-She's Lost Control/Atmosphere/Blue Monday//Doctorin' the Tardis

the Decemberists- 5.4.05

It was finally here, day one of the two day best fest. I have been looking forward to seeing the Decemberists for some time now. I just recently discovered their music, so I never had a shot to see them before. I got to the show and was quite disappointed that Willy Mason cancelled his opening slot. I enjoy his music and was hoping to see him. Anyway, the Decemberists came out and it was on! They opened with 'The Infanta' and proceeded to play alot off Picaresque. They did play some of my favorites though, 'Los Angeles, I'm Your's,' 'Song For Myla Goldberg,' 'The Sporting Life' and 'The Chimbley Sweep.' The crowd wasn't too bad, it was very young. There was alot of singing along and some dancing occured now and then. One of the highlights for me was when Petra Haden sang Kate Bush's 'Wuthering Heights.' Her voice cracked for a second, but she pulled it off and it was beautiful. I have nothing to compare this show to, but i loved every minute of it and I'm jonesin to see them again. Here's the setlist and a few shots:

the Infanta /the Legionnaire's Lament/Song For Myla Goldberg/We Both Go Down Together/the Bagman's Gambit/the Sporting Life/From My Own True Love(Lost At Sea)/16 Millitary Wives/Wuthering Heights/the Engine Driver/Los Angeles, I'm Your's/the Chimbley Sweep/California One-Youth and Beauty Brigade//encore: Eli, the Barrow Boy/the Mariner's Revenge Song
